I've always liked that word. It's Italian by way of France. Or is it French by way of Italy. It's one of those.
Just so you know, it means an incongruous combination of materials, forms, motifs, etc., taken from different sources; a hodgepodge. And that's kind of what I've got going on today.
I mentioned that I love bread, this is from Le Pain Quotidien, a terrific chain of bakery/cafes. They aren't everywhere -- of course there isn't one in Arizona -- but there are a couple in New York City.
Why the picture? Because it's pretty... I needed a picture... and because I mentioned bread as a favorite food when Pat asked in the post about the blog hop and Pat's book, What a Novel Idea. And I have winners! How is that for incongruous - an incongruous connection?
Winners! I have three of them.
1. Jan Richards - posted on 4/21 @ 10:52 PM.
2. Nancy Lee - posted on 4/19 @ 6:04 AM.
3. Teresa Wardlaw - posted on 4/19 @ 1:18 PM.
Ladies, if you'll check your e-mail boxes, there should be an e-mail from me asking for your mailing addresses!
Also from Le Pain Quotidien. What? Woman can not live by bread alone.
Did you know that Pat Sloan has a radio show? Did you know that Pat Sloan has a new radio show?
Starting this coming Monday - May 2nd - Pat is partnering with American Patchwork & Quilting magazine to do a new radio show that will keep you up-to-date on the newest trends, new tools and quilting tips. Pat will also speak with authors, quilt designers, shop owners and you! She'll also be speaking with the editors of American Patchwork & Quilting, Quilt Sampler and Quilts and More. Didn't I tell you that Pat knows everybody!
For the first show on Monday, Pat will be speaking with Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts.
While I haven't had the pleasure of actually meeting Edyta, I've been a big fan of her quilts since... well, since she first started publishing. The first year I was in Michigan, there was a trunk show of her quilts at the shop and I fell in love with everything. I bought a whole stack of patterns - Crossroads, Everlasting Wreath, Little Basket, On Eagle's Wings and Western Star. And while I haven't finished the two I started - you know how that happens - I'm about halfway done so maybe I should put those on my "to finish" list for this year.
Pat will also be speaking with Jennifer Keltner, the wonderful and brilliant Executive Editor of American Patchwork & Quilting.
I have met Jennifer and she's amazing. Seriously. I think you could put her in any room anywhere in the world and she'd be one of the smartest people in the room, if not the smartest. I always have the feeling that she's about 12,834 steps ahead of me. She's really funny too.
You will have to have a little sympathy for Jennifer though, she has a really difficult job on Monday. She's doing the last segment with Pat. Edyta is first, then comes someone who talks a lot. I mean... a lot.
Moi.
So tune in on Monday, May 2nd at 4:00 pm EST -- that's 4:00 pm EST or 3:00 pm CST or 2:00 pm MST or 1:00 pm PST.
If you live elsewhere, here's how you can figure out what time that will be. Pat thought of everything.
That's all I can think of for now.
It's hi ho hi ho... it's off to work I go for me... a little sewing, some errands and then my "other job" tonight. With a stop at Pottery Barn for a basket I'll use for my booth next week. At the rate I'm going, it will be the only thing in there. Hmmm... do you think I could get the folks at Pottery Barn to do my booth?
Until later.

Lots of information here! I love Edyta's patterns. I will have to check things out. I would really like to check out that bakery though!!! Yum! Fresh hot bread is the best. Have fun at work... if I stopped at PB beofre work, I'm afraid I might never make it to my destination. I'd be lost in "wonderland". ha!
