Only three of which I have actually made.
I sort of had to wait for a couple more charm packs to make the last quilt... the one that is actually on the cover of the Full House pattern.
Oops. I haven't actually made that one yet. It is a computer generated image based on the one I did make.
I know. This is getting confusing... but it isn't like you haven't been there before with me, right?
This is the one I haven't made...
Two charm packs of Little Gatherings by Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings. The red is from the La Petite Ecole collection by French General.
I used the same red to bind this quilt...
You'll notice that the houses in the two quilts are exactly the same ~ the same combinations and the same positions. Two charm packs of Little Gatherings and assorted Pie Crust prints for the sashings and borders.
This is what happened. When I make these little quilts, I try to use pieces from the collection. With this one, I liked the idea of the neutral border and sashing since it would mean that all the darker and really light pieces would still show.
But I like red. I thought about one red door. Maybe four or five. A couple of red squares? A single red roof? The quilt was finished before I could decide. As much as I liked it, I still kept thinking it needed red so I decided to use that for the binding ~ the one from La Petite Ecole. Since the binding was going to the photographer anyway ~ the printer would be adding the binding to the picture since the top hadn't been quilted or bound yet ~ I decided to ask for a little computer magic.
Thank you Cristen and Camille.
So there I was... anticipating making another house quilt. And not being the most patient of folks, I wanted to make it now. As in now. Right now. So I'm wanting to make another little house quilt but not having the two charm packs I needed just yet... it was time to start mulling over other options. Hometown? Love it. That would be very cute. Flurry? Just in time for Christmas. That's an option. Hmmm... I still have a little bit of Happy Holiday from last year... that would be really fun.
And then Nine Dots arrived.
Since the project quilt was already done and I wanted to make something now... now ... right now! This was it. It needs quilting and binding ~ a scrap-pieced narrow binding, of course. That is cut, pieced, pressed and ready to go. (I know... sometimes this sort of efficiency scares me too.)
I was seriously considering machine-quilting this one myself ~ yes, I do know how ~ but then I got side-tracked. I had this idea...
A small one.
Tiny Town?
Using a scrappy charm pack of Reproduction fabrics, I made another house quilt using smaller houses and squares. This quilt finishes at 22" x 25".
This will get a red binding, of course.
And since I didn't want you to have to take my word that these houses really were smaller, I took this picture to show the relative size of the two quilts.
If you have a Full House pattern, you just need these numbers to make a version of the little houses.
Full House ~ The One With the Little Houses
If I keep making house quilts, will I have to get a building permit? A contractor's license?
The only thing in my way is that I've been side-tracked again... this time by an interesting little block I've been playing with. It would normally need to be pieced using templates. Or a y-seam. Or after employing some really precise cutting. Ick. There has to be an easier way to make it. I think there is. And then there is the pile of Blueberry Crumb Cake... I've got an idea for what to do with that too.
Actually... that would be very cute in these little houses... I get side-tracked rather easily.
But you already knew that. We've been there before too.

I am excited about this pattern, I love houses! Some patterns are just beyond me but I know yours will be easy to follow..yippee. Linda

They're lovely - I'd like to move into the third from the right on the middle row of the nine dots quilt!

I love each and every one of the quilts, but the small, scrappy version is my favorite. You have me cutting fabrics already...geez, just what I needed...sidetracking.

Your version made with Nine Dots reminds me of houses in Bermuda - love it! And please do come up with something for Blueberry Crumb Cake as I am drooling over that fabric line.

They are all great, but OMG, that last scrappy one is to die for. Love it!

What a darling pattern Carrie! But then, all of your patterns are wonderful so I'll just ask you a silly question regarding the title of your post. I was looking at the four quilts and loving them all but especially the Nine Dots version...to die for!!! Ah, back to the question, as I looked at these quilts I was thinking that since there are lots of houses on each quilt, perhaps this post was really more of a "Tale of Four Neighborhoods", huh??? If that was the title, then I would want to live in the Nine Dots neighborhood. I'm just sayin...

Love all the versions. The 9-dots version is along the lines of what I was thinking about. And I already knew I was going to make 2 of this pattern...so now I can make a full sized version and a smaller version--maybe Christmas for version two...or maybe scrappy like you reproduction version! Thanks once again, Carrie!

Funny how that happens so often--you think you are going to do X, then Y and Z take over and off you go! Love all the houses you made. I'm partial to a red binding myself and think it looks great!

I just adore the smaller version! Absolutely adorable!

Just too cute! Darling houses, but this dirt road girl gets a little claustrophobic with so many houses around. I'm thinking mine will consist of barns and chicken coops! LOL! Oh...the wheels are turning!

I love all of your patterns and it's always so hard to choose when your new ones come out, so I usually don't and just get them all! But I have to say I can hardly wait to see what you do with the Blueberry Crumbcake fabric. I just love that line and can hardly wait to get some myself! Connie

They are all adorable. I actually like the more colorful versions. And yes, you will probably need to pull a building permit with the city or face some code violation - just kidding!

The houses are very fun. If you turn it sidewise, does it become Lazy Town?

I'm not new to your neighborhood! Hee! Actually, in today's economy....it is great to see growth!

How cute are these? The scrappy one is adorable! If I do the more neutral version, I think I like the idea of making one red door. The one house where everyone gathers. I don't know if I'm good enough to try the tiny one, but I may give it a try. Heaven knows, I have enough scraps to do it. Even if I make a ton of cutting mistakes!

Love the houses. Just finished Raising the roof quilt. Noticed that I had reversed the log cabin portion on most of the quilt. I decided that it had to be fixed. therefore I removed each block and put it in as per you pattern. I'm calling this quilt FIXIN THE ROOF.

Hmm, I love houses. I love embroidery. What about a layer cake version? Then I can add shrubs, door knobs, windows, flowers, a bicycle, a cat/dog, see where I'm going...Rosieville?

Hi Carrie,
I don't know if you will see this or not but I had to tell you I just did the "small" version of Full Houses for my sister for a housewarming gift and it is adorable. You are the best. Hope all is well.

I'm having difficulty understanding the pattern. It is such an adorable pattern, and I so want to "build" my own town.
